A re-design of the whole museum website and user experience, using existing branding but building on it with new sublogos and graphic elements.
Lyme Regis Museum is a popular small museum on the south coast, known best for being the home of Mary Anning. Based on the Jurassic Coast the Museum has comprehensive geological collections and works hard to make these accessible to scholars, families and schools alike. Their website was dated, inflexible and unable to support their varied events, increasing outreach and exciting plans for the future
The Museums existing website was huge and had become unwieldy as sections were added to cover developments over the years. An audit of content and a clear setting of objectives was the start point, leading to a creation of a clear wireframe and prioritisation of the information that we were required to include. Focus on the user experience and easy navigation was paramount, with clear menus and reclassification of information. It was also important to keep the different stakeholders in the Museum happy, retaining the traditional authority they are rightly proud of whilst bringing the presentation of it up to date and making it accessible and attractive to new audiences
“It was a pleasure working with Emily on our website re-design. Emily brought a thoughtful and creative approach to the project, really taking the time to understand the Museum’s identity, audience and aims. Emily was professional, responsive and collaborative throughout, offering practical solutions and guidance at every stage. We’re delighted with the outcome and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for high-quality, considered design work.”
